Tour de Manc & Maggie's

We’re proud to have supported Maggie’s in 2020 and again in 2021. We asked their Manchester centre fundraising manager Jessica Ruth what difference our riders have made during the extremely challenging last year and here how she responded.

“Maggie’s Manchester offers practical and emotional support for free to anyone with cancer and their families. Maggie’s help people take back control when cancer turns their life upside down, by providing expert support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries and how to cope with the isolation of shielding.

Maggie’s responded rapidly to the pandemic and their help is available online, by email and by phone as well as face to face safely in the centre. People with cancer have been amongst the most vulnerable throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

New research shows that the impact of the pandemic could equate to 18,000 additional deaths from cancer over the coming year alone. It is predicted that it will take the UK a minimum of five years for survival rates to return to 2019 levels.

For the thousands of people who will be newly diagnosed, who have had treatment delayed or cancelled, who have felt isolated and lonely and for families who have lost loved ones during these unprecedented times, Maggie’s psychological, emotional and practical support is needed more than ever.”

And Jessica concluded, “On behalf of the people who made 13,000 visits to Maggie’s in the last year, thank you to all at Tour de Manc for helping us be here for them.”

Danny Franks for the Tour de Manc team responded, “Our riders told us how proud they are that the Tour de Manc supports such a great local charity.”

If you would like your charity to be considered for future sponsorship from our fantastic events, we would love to hear from you.
