Tour de Manc X-Manc : Cyclocross/FunCross with Music, Food and Beer
2018 brings you the newest and most exciting event in the Tour de Manc programme. Welcome to the X-Manc. This mint event hosts Cyclocross/Funcross racing as well as providing spectators of all ages a great spectacle, hospitality experience and an enjoyable atmosphere. We’ll have music, bobble hat stalls and some great local food and beer.
X-Manc Cyclocross /Funcross
This part of the event caters for the experienced Cyclocross riders and novice/newbies willing to give Cyclocross a go. The race day itself will contain 6 different categories, consisting of Youths (up to 15 years of age), Juniors (16-18 years of age), Vets (40+), Novices (first timers willing to give it a go), as well as the standard Men’s and Females (18-40 years of age) races.
We have some great Prizes which will be awarded to the winners, courtesy of our Prize sponsor Dexshell UK. However this event shows off the strength and community of Manchester, and tackling the race with Manc drive and determination is seen as a bigger accomplishment in our eyes, so we have spot prizes too! Don’t be afraid as showing us what you’re made and you may win a #BeeManc prize.
For regular league riders, this event is not a league event and is non-scoring but it allows you to tune up your kit and test your fitness and form prior to the first League race of the 2018-19 season. It provides a great environment to meet up with old friends and rivals for racing and post ride fun. For novices, it’s an ideal time to try something new in a friendly, fun environment and then enjoy the rest of the day watching others.
(Online Prices range from £3 to £15 plus a £3 charity levy depending upon race category and age – you can register now using the green Register button towards the bottom of this page)
Our course is on varied terrain set out in the Country Park (an satellite image is shown below). The adults course is around 1.3Km in length, will have several obstacles and a section of the course will be routed through the main marquee where spectators can enjoy music, a drink and food, whilst cheering our racers on. It should offer a unique atmosphere. (Note: The Junior and Youth courses do not go through the beer marquee, but pass close by).
Pits are available and there is ample parking (a small fee is made which all goes to our charities) and changing facilities and toilets are available on site.
X-Manc Food, Beer and Music
In conjunction with the Cyclocross/Funcross racing, there will be food and beer concessions – to satisfy those who seek to indulge in the best local food and beer Manchester has to offer. Whilst the racing is going on in front of you (literally! the course comes through the main marquee!) and the Manc music plays, you can enjoy beers from an award winning local Manchester brewery providing unique and high quality beers. If you’re gaggin’ for a beer or you just want to eat some proper mint food, then come along and experience what the Tour de Manc X-Manc has to offer.
The offering will comprise a selection of great beers (including our bespoke Tour de Manc Belgian style beer and Tour de Manc Supernova IPA) and we will also have a number of food stalls, serving some fantastic local food. It wouldn’t be Cyclocross without a bobbly hat, so we’ll ‘ave some of that too from Scruffydogcreations and there will be other outlets from Dexshell and VeloChampion.
We promise you a unique and enjoyable day out for all. Entry to the non-racing element is free although there will a capacity limit of 500 plus riders at any time and there will be a small car park charge (#all4charity). Please bring a designated driver as you mustn’t drink and drive.
Every-Manc #Inclusive ride
We have a parallel event running for riders with disabilities, running at the same venue on a flat tarmac course. Adapted bikes and supervision will be provided, so that the day can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of ability. Should you be interested in reserving a place for the Every-Manc ride, you can register on the day (cost £3), but please email your contact details to us in advance (so we can determine bike numbers and car park allocations) at email@example.com
